This is a half-day trip on Sundays
Bled is by far the most famous and popular tourist site in Slovenia. Its natural beauty has captivated both tourists and local residents. It is famous for its beautiful lake that boasts the only real island in Slovenia. To reach the island, we will board a traditional wooden oared boat called pletna and then proceed to the local Church of Mary’s Assumption, taking a walk up the picturesque stone staircase. We will stop to make a wish at the wishing bell constructed in 1534 and enjoy a sip of the refreshing water from the well built in honor of a princess who passed away prematurely.
Another attraction not to be missed is the Bled Castle situated high up on a magnificent cliff overlooking the lake. According to written sources, this is the oldest castle in Slovenia. The former residential quarters now host a restaurant and a museum collection with objects depicting the region’s historical development from the Bronze Age to present day.
To conclude the day, we will enjoy a delicious slice of cream cake, one of Bled’s culinary specialties. At your request, afternoons can be spent at one of the lake’s public beaches where water temperatures rise to a pleasant 25°C in summer months. Adrenaline lovers can opt for a summer ride on the sledge slide.
